What to Expect When You are Grieving

Grief is a normal response to the losses and transitions of life. When someone important to us has died, we mourn the loss of the relationship as well as the loss of the person. Grief is a natural process with a wide range of powerful emotions. Our task is to experience the deep feelings and to understand their meaning for us as we continue our life journey. Many describe it as feeling like a “rollercoaster.” It helps to tune in to what works best for you.  Grief can be re-kindled or intensified by seasonal changes, significant dates, holidays, other losses, and life passages. There can be comfort and a measure of peace in sharing your grief with people you trust and those who have also experienced a loss. You can rediscover your own strengths in the mutual support process.
